I originally came to your Blog because I thought you were a former very good college friend of 40 years ago by the same name; my Andy now lives in Baltimore and is a clinical social worker. If you want to meet your namesake in Baltimore who runs clinical children homes, let me know and I'll send you his email address He has written a book on his work but is too busy doing to write another at this time.

I stayed because of the excellent articles and very useful information that you post. I have already subscribed to your newsletter. Your interview on publishing via EBook was so interesting in that I have been told to write my non-fiction manuscript but not to attempt to get it pubulished in paperback until I took the best content and divided that into three parts to make three short ebooks and then get those published. then, if that goes well, use that momentum to get my main book published by a regular publishing house. My non-fiction, 50% traditional narrative/50% voice driven narrative on Extended Families ("Familes Are Forever") is almost ready for regular publication. However, I have sectioned the best part out into four ebooks and can work to get those published. I started thinking just the reverse and now this post makes me pause again. I will be interested in other's thoughts.

In additon, on the big publishing company mergers, I agree. Big is not better EVER for those of us in the middle. I recently had a telephone conversation with an agent who wouldn't talk to me for over 60 seconds and wasn;t listening during my 45 second pitch. She ended by saying that she wasn't interested in my book on parenting because she had too many "stars" and celebrities writing books on their kids that she was being forcedto find a publisher for. I was rejected with her having no knowledge of my book nor platform, nor style nor me, all because I was not a "star" with kids who decided to write a book. I can't really figure out how to deal with that one but in the end I wouldn't want her as an agent representing me.
