The Man Booker prize is the most prestigious literary award for fiction for books published in (what is still quaintly referred to as) The British Commonwealth plus Ireland. It is the equivalent of the National Book Award in the United States. From this list of 13 titles, 6 will be selected for the short list and the prize awarded.
